Artist Statement

I am always in awe of the natural beauty of the world around me.  In my art work, I try to create artwork that reflects this beauty.

                        Biographical Sketch

I attended Cazenovia College in the fall of 1988 and graduated in 1990 with and Associates Degree in Commercial Illustration.   In the winter of 1992 I returned to school to study Art Education and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree from Buffalo State College.   In the fall of 1995, I took a job teaching art at Sherman Central School and Clymer Central School as a shared elementary art teacher.   In the month of August I married the love of my life, Heather Oquist, and moved to Hyde Park, Vermont, where I taught high school art and multimedia.  We soon missed the comforts of home and family and returned to Western New York where I began teaching art at the Ashville BOCES.  While at BOCES, I taught art to alternative education and special education students.  Some job cuts came and I began looking for a job.  Clymer Central had an art opening and I applied and was hired.  In the summer of 2004 Jamestown City Schools posted an opening for a middle school art teacher.  I applied and was hired for the job.  I am currently working for JCS and am enjoying it! I plan to finish out my teaching career in this district.

I enjoy hiking, camping, golf, motorcycles, hunting, cross-country skiing, photography, and woodworking.  My many interests and hobbies reflect my art works’ diverse mediums.  I enjoy dabbling in everything and anything that pertains to art.
