Mr. Parinella's Team 7 Social Studies
Daiman D. Parinella
My educational philosophy is based around the classroom atmosphere or environment. In order for students to participate, work, and learn in a classroom they must not feel threatened in the classroom. For example, they shouldn't be intimidated to ask a question or respond to a question incorrectly. A classroom teacher can encourage participation by openly displaying that it is all right to make a mistake. Once a teacher shows that it is all right to be wrong they are opening the door to demonstrate the proper steps to seeking the correct answer.
I also believe that all people have a variety of learning styles. Because this is true about our students in the classroom, we must present new material in multiple ways. Some students learn best by being lectured to or given oral instructions. Others, like myself, might need a visual or something concrete to work with. In these kinds of cases, a teacher may use a graphic organizer or some kind of manipulative to teach the lesson. Teaching to the multiple intelligences in your classroom enables the teacher to reach more students in the classroom. No student likes the feeling of being lost, confused, and left out!!!!!!!!!!!
Consistency is a very important characteristic of my educational philosophy. Sticking to a regular, everyday schedule allows the students to concentrate more on the actual schoolwork rather then the schedule of the day. You can even tie this into classroom discipline. The classroom rules should be clearly stated, posted, and occasionally reviewed. It is not fair for the teacher to not enforce the rules one day and punish a student the following day.
