Jamestown Public Schools Counseling Department
The Jamestown Public Schools have a long standing reputation for supporting students of all backgrounds and abilities. The district’s counseling department is the centerpiece of this reputation. With a counselor in each elementary school, two counselors in each middle school, and seven counselors at the high school, the JPS counseling department is well positioned to serve our student and parent populations. While school-based partnerships with Family Services of the Chautauqua Region, the Jamestown Community Learning Council and Chautauqua Striders demonstrate our commitment to collaboration during the school age years, articulation agreements with two and four year institutions and a wealth of scholarship opportunities specifically for JHS graduates ensure a bright future for our students.
As a parent, you can expect classroom lessons from your elementary school counselors, small group discussions from your middle school counselors and thorough college and career direction from your high school counselors. As advocates for health and wellness, armed with a commitment to building assets among youth, counselors at all school levels work diligently with staff, administrators, and community partners to support students and families. The recent adoption of the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Standards by this department demonstrates the high expectations they have set for themselves in the areas of Academic, Career, and Personal/Social development. We look forward to working with you and welcome your call.
