Dear Team Avanti Member and Parents:
We are very pleased to have you as a member of our team for the 2008-2009 school year. All parents should consider themselves members of Team Avanti as well. We feel that parent—teacher cooperation through conferences, email, and by telephone is necessary for your child to have successful seventh and eighth grade years at Persell Middle School and a smooth transition to the high school.

Each student is responsible to make homework and studying a part of a daily routine. Your child will be bringing a progress report home midway through each trimester. With this in mind, in order to complete in-class work and daily assignments, each student is required to have the following supplies:

Required Supplies:
1 composition notebook
1 spiral notebook (with 100 pages)
1 pack of dividers (total of 5)
2, 2” heavy-duty binder
2 packs of loose-leaf paper
Pens
Pencils
1 box of tissues

Optional:
Pack of markers
Post-its
Index Cards
Highlighters
Dry Erase Markers
Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS

Scientific calculators are recommended for all students in grades 7 & 8. Calculators are used daily in the math classroom, and students often need a calculator to complete homework assignments. Our school has a limited supply of calculators, available for classroom use only. We recommend that each student have their own scientific calculator for use at home. We hope that you will be able to support this request. The following models are recommended:

Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS $15 retail
Texas Instruments TI-34II Explorer Plus $20 retail

School begins on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. This will be a full day of school. All students on Team Avanti will report to the Persell auditorium at 8:30 am. We look forward to working with every parent and student and having a productive year. Continue to have a great summer as you mentally prepare yourself for a super year at Persell.
