Verb Conjugations for Regular -ar Verbs in the Present Tense

This example will apply for any regular -ar verb.
Infinitive form: Necesitar - to need
Remove the -ar ending and the stem NECESIT remains.
The stem (along with the corresponding subject pronouns)is what is used to create each form of the verb.
Yo necesito - I need
Tú necesitas - you need(informal)
Él necesita - he needs
Ella necesita - she needs
Ud.(usted) necesita - you need(formal)
Nosotros necesitamos - we need
Nosotras necesitamos - we need(feminine)
Ellos necesitan - they need
Ellas necesitan - they need(feminine)
Uds.(ustedes) necesitan - you all need


Stated another way:
1. The subject pronoun Yo corresponds with the -o ending at the end of the verb.
2. The subject pronoun Tú corresponds with the -as ending at the end of the verb.
3. The subject pronouns Él, Ella and Ud. all correspond with the -a ending.
4. The subject pronouns Nosotros and Nosotras corresond with the -amos ending.
5. The subject pronouns Ellos, Ellas, and Uds. correspond with the -an ending.


To see if you understand this information, choose a verb from the regular -ar verb list(that you don't know) and try to conjugate it following the above chart. Write it out in Spanish and English. Show your work to me when you are done.
