Computerized Cash Registers in the Cafeteria….

Beginning on January 3, 2005 students will be able to deposit money into their personal accounts for breakfast and lunch.
It’s Quick and Easy!!! No more lost lunch money!!!

Here’s how it works: Each student has a “meal account”, and Parents can send cash money or checks (checks are recommended) into school to add to their child’s account. Students will be required to remember a 4 or 5 digit number (Student Id Number) that the school will assign. The student comes through the Lunch or Breakfast line and enters their personal ID number on the pin pad by the cash register. Every time the child enters their number it debits their account. This reduces the amount of lost lunch money and it saves parents from having to remember to give them money everyday. It also reduces the stigma of the free and reduced price meals because no one knows what anyone else’s status is. With prepayment there is no handling of money, the student just debits it from their account, so everyone is equal… An added benefit is that it speeds up the line (students have more time to enjoy their meal) when the cashiers don’t have to handle money.

Cash or checks can be deposited into a student’s account at any time during breakfast or lunch or before school.
Checks should be made out to: Jamestown Schools Food Service.

NOTE: There is a possibility that sometime down the road we will offer Internet deposits into the child’s account as well.

Should you have any questions please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call the Food Service Office.

Thank you,
