One of our third grade science units is "Butterflies and Moths.'" Students each adopt their own Painted Lady larva. They keep written journals as part of the unit. This year my students made an iMovie about the life cycle of the Painted Lady butterfly. They wrote scripts, narrated and video-taped the larva, pupa and adult stages. One student played his violin when we released the butterflies into our butterfly garden. It was exciting to document the growth and changes of our Painted Ladies. We hope you enjoy the movie.
