Representatives from the JHS Class of 1955 recently presented a plaque to commemorate their 50th anniversary and class gift to Superintendent Ray Fashano. The class raised $4,500, of which $3,000 went towards replacing the clock above the entrance to JHS. The balance will be used for another gift to the high school. The Class of 1955 held their 50th class reunion on July 29th – 31st. Classmates from around the country attended, many who had not been back to Jamestown for 30 to 40 years.

Friday evening was an informal get-together at the Lakewood Fireman’s Club Training Grounds with 150 people attending. A golf scramble was held at South Hills Country Club Saturday morning.

A formal gathering was held Saturday evening at the Holiday Inn in Jamestown with 230 attending. Each classmate and guest was photographed as they entered the ballroom. Candid photos of various events were taken throughout the evening to be compiled into a memory booklet for class members.

Nancy Stromdahl Wilson conducted a memorial service for the sixty deceased classmates. Master of ceremonies, Jack Fulford, introduced class president, Sebastian Ciancio, who spoke of the years at JHS and presented committee members with a Certificate of Appreciation for the work they did organizing the reunion. Sharon Lofgren Garrison presented the Class of 1955’s gift to JHS, which is replacing the clock over JHS’ entrance. Fulford, Bob Ecklund and Carl Malta presented golf awards. Special recognition was given to Russell and Melda McIntyre Palmer who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 30th. Music for dancing was provided by Ralph Rasmussen and his band.

On Sunday morning, 75 guests were treated to a brunch cruise on the Summer Wind on Chautauqua Lake.
