JHS Students of the Year

The following students have been selected as

"Students of the Year for 2005-2006"

GRADE 12: Christina Hanson

PARENTS: Christopher and Lauren Hanson

ACTIVITIES: She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Art Club, the A”Cappella choir, the Madrigal Singers, the Yearbook Club, the French Club and tutors at JHS. Outside of school she volunteers at St. Susan’s Soup Kitchen and has participated in CCMTA All County.

FUTURE PLANS: After graduation, Christina will attend Jamestown Community College to major in biology, then transfer to a SUNY college to complete her education as an oncologist.

GRADE 11: Amanda Anderson

PARENTS: Steven and Christine Anderson

ACTIVITIES: Amanda is the captain of the track team, and a member of the cross country team, the concert band, Key Club and a cast member of the Sound of Music. She holds offices in the Student Council, Student Organization and Honor Society. She was also a co-founder of the Raider Readers Book Club. Outside of school Amanda is a volunteer at WCA Hospital, Tanglewood Manor and the Chautauqua County Humane Society.

FUTURE PLANS: Amanda plans to attend college and pursue a career in medicine or marine biology with a minor in Spanish.

GRADE 10: Seth Massey

PARENTS: Jeanine Massey and the late Herb Massey

ACTIVITIES: Seth has been a member of the Freshman and Junior Varsity football teams, where he won the “Ironman” Award in 2005. He is a member of the Symphonic Band, the weightlifting club and has participated in the CCMTA Solo Festival. Outside of school, Seth is a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church where he is a member of the Youth Group, a sound technician and completed a mission trip to Mexico. He is also a volunteer for the Soap Box Derby and dessert concerts.

FUTURE PLANS: Seth plans to attend a four-year college, taking officer leadership classes, with aspirations of becoming a U.S. Marine Corp Officer after graduation.

GRADE 9: Chelsea Davis

PARENTS: Jerome and Lisa Davis

ACTIVITIES: Chelsea is a member of the junior varsity soccer and basketball teams and is a past recipient of the scholar athlete award for soccer. She is also a member of the student council. Outside of school, Chelsea is active in her church.

FUTURE PLANS: Chelsea plans to attend college to pursue a career in architecture.
