JHS Students of the Month
The following students have been selected as
"Students of the Month for January 2008"
GRADE 12: Dan Scotchmer
PARENTS: Doug Scotchmer and Marie Carrubba
ACTIVITIES: He is the official scorekeeper for both the JHS basketball teams. He is an attorney on the JHS Mock Trial Team. Dan was named Altar Server of the Year and earned the Carl Calimeri Award as the top AP US History student. He is a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Church and the YMCA. He also works at the Post-Journal as a sportswriter.
FUTURE PLANS: Dan plans to attend college and major in communications with future plans to either attend law school or become a sportswriter working at ESPN.

GRADE 11: Alyssa Raimondo
PARENTS: Nancy and Russell Raimondo
ACTIVITIES: She is the secretary of the Class of 2009, a member of Student Organization and in JHS’ Drama Club with plans to be in JHS’ play “The Crucible.” She is also secretary of the JHS’ Art Club and a member of JHS Symphonic Band, where she plays first chair flute. She volunteers for Project YES.
FUTURE PLANS: Alyssa plans to attend JCC and Geneseo to major in History, and to pursue a career as a high school history teacher, as well as a writer of fiction novels.

GRADE 10: Patrick Salemme
PARENT: Sam and Tracy Salemme
ACTIVITIES: He is involved in many activities, including concert band, marching band, KEY Club, Student Council, Ski Club. He is also a member of the JHS Tennis Team. Patrick holds leadership positions in the marching band and is the treasurer of both the KEY Club and Student Council. He is also actively involved in his church.
FUTURE PLANS: Patrick plans to go to medical school after he graduates and would like to become a psychiatrist.

GRADE 9: Sadie Breen
PARENTS: Joel and Donna Breen
ACTIVITIES: She began her basketball career as an eighth grader on the JV team and now plays on the JHS Varsity squad. Sadie also plays basketball during the off-season in the AAU league. She is an avid reader and works hard in her classes. When not on the court, Sadie keeps busy with community activities. She attends Bemus Point United Methodist Church, and helped with the Kenny Woodfield Benefit as a volunteer. She also participated with her basketball team’s Christmas Food Drive. Sadie hopes to continue with her academic success and improve her skills on the basketball court.
FUTURE PLANS: Sadie hopes to apply to her dream school, the University of North Carolina. She would love to play basketball for the Lady Tar Heels while earning a degree in elementary education.
