MS. GOULD'S ART SITE
The Elementary Art students at Fletcher do not have specific homework assignments at this time.
Thank you to the many parents, grandparents, relatives and family friends who make art fun and make arts and crafts opportunities available to children at home.
Thank you for your support and sharing of the Arts in our community, state, nation, and world with our children. Within them are the " World's Best Artists " of tomorrow.
I would like to encourage all of my art students to practice drawing real people (for portraits) or real objects at home whenever possible. At home they may, with family permission have a person sit for them as a model or set up a group of objects on a table for a still life drawing. Have your child practice drawing these items in pencil first; then if available, in crayon or colored pencil. Ideas for this may include the drawing of groups of toys, items from the kitchen such as group of plastic utensils, a group of shoes, fruits and vegetables, tools, etc. This greatly increases eye/ hand coordination and improves visual perception. It helps their brain grow the connections necessary to improve their drawing skills as they better recognize detail and know their subject by visual familiarity.
Secondly I would also like to encourage students to whenever possible to create imaginary art. This could be something as simple as making an object into a cartoon character.
Thank you for helping our young artists unlock their creative potential!
