School psychologists provide a wide variety of services across the district. Their unique training and expertise makes available numerous services to students and staff. While the following is not all inclusive, it provides a glimpse into the services offered by our school psychologists:
Consultation to school staff as well as parents about the social, emotional and/or behavioral needs of students
Consultation to school staff about classroom and/or school-wide approaches to behavior and positive behavior supports and interventions
Screening, evaluation, identification and referral of students
Planning and implementing appropriate academic and other educational supports
Conducting/assisting with functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
Providing social skills training
Measuring progress and improvement in students and programs
Providing interventions to students with chronic behavior or emotional needs
Small group and/or individual counseling about social skills, anger management control, family stress, coping strategies, etc.
Staff development on positive behavior supports, violence prevention, ADHD, depression, traumatic brain injury, functional behavior assessments, etc.
Provide resources and information to staff, parents and/or students about characteristics, interventions and treatments of childhood disorders
Coordinate and refer students/families to other service agencies
