More Safety and Being Friends
- Work on learning your address and phone number
- Talk about what happened during the day
- Discuss the school rules, classroom rules and cafeteria rules...and why we have them
- Review your dismissal plans - who is picking them up, to wait with the teacher
- Discuss bus rules and the afterschool program rules...and why we have them
Academic Themes
- Talk about favorite foods and restaurants, kinds of jobs in the food industry
- Talk about family members and traditions
- Help your child learn his address, phone number, birthday and to tie his shoes
- Practice writing names using the D'Nealian letter formations sent home -always start at the top, not bottom up
- Practice identifying the letters in their names, as well as the letters we have covered so far-for a list click on our abcs
- Discuss stories we have read - have them retell the story to you - who the story is about, what happened and where
- Work on learning their left and right
- Practice matching groups of objects and counting these objects
- Work on patterning - using pictures or objects, have them create a simple pattern - red/blue/red/blue, cat/dog/cat/dog, circle/square/rectangle/circle/square/rectangle
