About Jamestown Athletics...

The Jamestown Public Schools athletic department offers a wide variety of athletic participation to students in grades 7-12.  The department is comprised of 72 teams and 89 coaching positions,  and includes 24 teams that compete at the varsity level.  Approximately 1,250 student-athletes each school year participates on a JPS athletic team.  The athletic office is the source for game schedules, practice schedules, directions, eligibility and regulation compliance, recruitment opportunities, oversight of coaches, scheduling of game staff, facility requests from outside organizations, and serves as a liasion between the organizations and leagues that we are affiliated with.


J.H.S. is a member of the Section 6 in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA).  We compete in the Erie County Interscholastic Conference (ECIC) in most sports and the Chautauqua County Athletic Association (CCAA) in all midddle school sports as well as high school cross country, bowling, golf, and tennis.

Ben Drake, Athletic Director

Mr. Drake is a former Red Raider who graduated from J.HS. in 1990.  He then attended SUNY Brockport, earning a B.S. in Physical Education in 1994, where he was an Academic All-American basketball player.  He then went on to get his masters degree in Athletic Administration and his administrative degree from Brockport as well.  After coming to J.H.S. as a PE teacher 1998, he spent 4 years as an assistant principal at J.H.S. before being named the district’s athletic director in 2003.  He lives in Jamestown with his wife, Karen, and 3 children: Morgan, Marley, and Trey.
